After the approval by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) and the Council of the Competition Authority (GVH), Mediaworks Hungary Zrt. today acquired Pannon Lapok Társasága Kiadói Kft. (PLT).
PLT and Mediaworks will together have an annual turnover of approximately HUF 25 billion and nearly 1,150 employees. The new group has regional newspapers in twelve counties (Bács-Kiskun, Baranya, Békes, Heves, Komárom-Esztergom, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Somogy, Tolna, Fejér, Vas, Veszprém, Zala). The company further publishes three national daily newspapers (Nemzeti Sport, Világgazdaság, Népszabadság) and has a range of magazines and digital media products.
The regional newspapers will become the largest revenue source of the combined entity with a share of more than 50%. As of today approximately 75% of the sold newspaper circulation of PLT-Mediaworks will be regional dailies.
